چکیده

Purpose. To depollute water contaminated by phenol using the adsorption process in a batch reactor with valorization of olive pomace for preparation activated carbon to be used as an adsorbent. Methodology. In this present work, study on influence four principal parameters yield during treatment polluted were studied, namely: mass, contact time, initial concentration and stirring speed. addition, was optimized full factorial designs response surface methodology MINITAB software. Findings. The removal made from makes it possible achieve efficiency 91 % use following optimal conditions: adsorbent mass 0.48 g, time 110.80 min, 100.98 mg/L, speed 462.89 rpm. Contact showed positive effect efficiency. results illustrate that all examined factors significantly affected confidence level 95 %. Modeling studies for adsorption of phenol and co-pollutants onto granular activated carbon prepared from olive oil industrial waste

Granular activated carbon (OSAC) which was derived from olive oil industrial solid waste was chemically activated with different concentrations of phosphoric acid. OSAC-materials were evaluated for their ability to remove phenol from aqueous solution in a batch technique. Adsorption isotherms were determined and modeled with five linear Langmuir forms, namely the Freundlich, Elovich, Temkin, Ki...

Kinetic and Isotherm Modelling of the Adsorption of
Phenolic Compounds from Olive Mill Wastewater onto Activated Carbon.

The adsorption of phenolic compounds from olive oil wastewater by commercial activated carbon was studied as a function of adsorbent quantity and temperature. The sorption kinetics and the equilibrium isotherms were evaluated. Under optimum conditions (8 g of activated carbon per 100 mL), the maximum sorption capacity of activated carbon expressed as mg of caffeic acid equivalent per g of activ...

Statistical physics modeling of equilibrium adsorption of cadmium ions onto activated carbon, chitosan and chitosan/activated carbon composite

The adsorption ability of activated carbon, chitosan, and chitosan/activated carbon composite for cadmium separation from aqueous solution was analyzed via statistical physical modeling. The equilibrium data were analyzed by Langmuir, Hill, double layer model, and the multi-layer model with saturation isotherm models. Results showed that the multi-layer model with saturation could well describe...

Isotherm Equation for Water Vapor Adsorption onto Activated Carbon

A simple isotherm model has been developed for the type-5 equilibrium adsorption systems by considering the effects of both primary and secondary adsorptive sites. The model was applied to interpret experimental data describing water vapor adsorption capacities of four activated carbon adsorbents for relative vapor pressures from 0.0 to 0.95 and temperatures between 288 and 308 K. Good agreemen...
